Pagoda are delighted to be working with Nanyang Technological University to offer our fully supported in-person internship opportunities in 2022!

Students taking part have the option of a funded 6 week internship programme in Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam or Taipei – Taiwan. Internships are available across a variety of sectors, and you will receive full support from the Pagoda team for these programmes.

The programme is supported via funding from Enterprise Singapore’s Global Ready Talent programme and Nanyang Technological University. If you are interested in taking part please apply before 15th August and follow instructions carefully.

Regardless of destination, internship and sector you choose, Pagoda will support you before, during and after the programme, provide quality accommodation, assist with the required visa and be there in-country to ensure amazing experience!

FUNDING

There is financial support for Singaporean / SRP students via the Enterprise Singapore Global Ready Talent Grant and additional subsidies and grants available for eligible students from NTU.

Before committing to the programme, your university and Pagoda will be able to confirm the exact amount of funding you’re eligible for and what your outstanding costs will be.

KEY DATES

6 Week Internship: Programmes will begin on 5th December 2022 and finish on 13th January 2023

You are welcome to arrive and begin using your accommodation up to 3 days prior to your chosen programme commencing and stay up until the Sunday when your programme finishes.

The final deadline for applications is 15th August 2022, however we highly recommend applying as soon as possible as funding and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Pagoda will be taking applications of interest from students with the aim of providing confirmation and final acceptances onto the programme shortly following the August 15th 2022 deadline, or when all places have been filled. You are welcome to apply as soon as possible as places are limited.

There will be a $200 SGD refundable programme deposit that will be requested when confirming your offer for the programme.

Pagoda will register your interest and explore your funding eligibility options with your university. It may be required for you to follow up with relevant staff at the university. Once funding and outstanding costs you will be responsible are established, you will have the choice to confirm your place or withdraw and have your deposit refunded, should your original preference of destination not be viable.

Our team will support you with pre-programme activities and tasks. Once the internship programmes begin, Pagoda will continue to support you through each step of the process. You will be greeted at the airport, transferred over to your accommodation and be introduced to all the fellow students from various universities who are completing a similar programme.

Your university and Pagoda will confirm your eligibility for the programme before any deposit or programme fee is required. Before agreeing to any overseas experience, your university will outline what contribution (if any) will be needed and what funding you will be able to access to help towards the costs of your flights and spending money.Pagoda will be following government travel advice and we will keep you updated should any restriction changes affect your programme. In the event of a programme cancelation, your deposit and any other programme financial contribution will be refunded in full**. Alternatively, you will also have the opportunity to switch to our highly rated Global Online Internship if an in-person programme is not possible.

**Please note: As flight costs are not covered by the programme funding, Pagoda would not refund flight costs in the event of a programme cancellation. Therefore, as a precaution, we strongly advise that all flights are booked as refundable.31st August 2022.You can either speak with our team or browse our website at any time, which can be filtered by destination and industry. You can submit your application for as many positions as you like, however we prefer if you focus on one preferred location. Once you have decided on your destination, Pagoda Projects will direct you to your GP for vaccine recommendations and COVID-related vaccine advice. Once you have chosen a destination, we will send the steps you need to complete to apply for your visa. The visa type will depend on your chosen destination.

Our internship and employability programmes have spanned over 20 destinations worldwide, and have welcomed over 4000 students and counting. We are confident in our team’s ability to deliver meaningful career developing opportunities to prepare the next generation of global graduates!All locations are depending on border controls and capacity to secure an appropriate visa.Destinations will be confirmed by the end of August 2022, at which point you will be given the option to officially accept your destination before proceeding further. What are the skills courses?

Pagoda Projects have developed a series of skills courses set to encourage the development of student and recent graduate’ current skillset with the fundamental elements needed to improve their ‘work readiness’ for a post-pandemic business world.

The skills series includes courses focusing on Intercultural Fluency, Employability and Digital Competency. We believe this framework provides the learner with the agility needed for a global and ever-changing workplace, preparing them with the knowledge to communicate effectively within an international work-group or team, tackle the job market with awareness, preparation and confidence and have a strong understanding of the importance of ‘digital’ once they enter the workplace.

As qualifications remain a vital measure of achievement, a LinkedIn-ready certificate is provided following each completed course.

Why are these courses important?

Based on the Universities UK – Higher Education in England: Provision, Skills and Graduates Survey, ‘for both graduates of all levels and subject areas, skills and competencies came first (82.4% reported this to be a formal or important requirement), followed by relevant work experience (66.7%)’ when asked what mattered most when entering the labour market and attaining a job. Similarly, 87% of employers listed attitudes and aptitudes for work more important than relevant work experience, degree result and degree subject when hiring a graduate.

This coherence between student and employer views supports our framework in being able to provide learners with accessible skills courses that can be integrated into professional internships; this would allow them to achieve both the first and second most important values when attaining employment. For non-placement learners, these courses may be integrated into course projects or their own self-development actions, allowing the learner to practice their new skills in real-time.

Global Online Internships 2022 – (For students at Australian & New Zealand Universities)

New for 2022, Pagoda are offering both full-time and part-time online internship programmes across all sectors with rolling start dates from Semester 1. You will gain skills highly valued by employers, enhance your cultural understanding and become work ready.

This is real-work experience with a company in one of our many international host locations. The programme also features an individually matched Cultural Mentor, regular online events and online courses. Full or partial funding may be available from your university*

PROGRAMME DATES

Flexible start dates*

The internships on offer can be completed full-time (i.e. during your Winter or Summer Break), or part-time (i.e. reduced hours during semester time to fit around your existing commitments).

Because of the associated commitment with an internship, we recommend a minimum duration of 6 weeks for full-time or 10 weeks for part-time in order to complete the programme. However, shorter durations may be possible depending on your ability to commit to a more intensive schedule. There are no programme cost differences associated with duration. In most cases, students who opt to complete the programme over a longer period of time will benefit from a greater number of host companies being able to consider hosting you for an internship.

Deadline to apply*

Because we are accepting applications on a rolling basis, there is no specific Pagoda deadline date to apply for this programme. However, we recommend applying 10 weeks prior to your preferred start date to ensure enough time for the placement/interview process, establish your funding eligibility and process associated funding before commencement.

What are the skills courses?

Skill courses aim to encourage the development of students, as well as recent graduates, by teaching fundamental elements that are needed to improve your ‘work readiness’ for a post-pandemic business world.

DURING THE PROGRAMME WE WILL BE HOSTING LOTS OF EVENTS TO IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS & GAIN EXPERIENCE

Throughout each programme we’ll arrange live workshops, sector-specific webinars, Q&As sessions with industry leaders, fireside chats, specific networking events, alumni reunions and social activities to ensure a well-rounded events package that covers a huge variety of topics.

All the events will be delivered virtually, meaning you can access from anywhere in the world.

Each event is no more than an hour long and typically takes place on weekdays only. The event schedule including content of sessions, speakers and topics to be discussed would be finalised closer to the programme start dates and communicated with those taking part.

What are the skills courses?

Pagoda Projects have developed a series of skills courses set to encourage the development of your skillsets with a focus on ‘work readiness’ in a post-pandemic business world.

The Skills series includes courses focusing on Intercultural Fluency, Employability, Digital Competency and Workplace Basics. This framework provides the learner with the agility needed for a globalised and ever-changing workplace, preparing you with the knowledge to communicate effectively within an international team, approach the job-market with confidence and have a strong understanding of the importance of ‘digital’ technologies.

As qualifications remain a vital measure of achievement, an individual certificate is also awarded to you following each successfully completed micro-course.

Why are they important?

Based on the Universities UK – Higher Education in England: Provision, Skills and Graduates Survey, ‘for both graduates of all levels and subject areas, skills and competencies came first (82.4% reported this to be a formal or important requirement), followed by relevant work experience (66.7%)’ when asked what mattered most when entering the labour market and attaining a job. Similarly, 87% of employers listed attitudes and aptitudes for work more important than relevant work experience, degree result and degree subject when hiring a graduate.

Yes. As with all Pagoda Projects programmes, you will know exactly how much you will be paid, interview with the placement company and confirm your placement before committing to the programme. The salary for Taipei placements will easily cover living expenses (rent, food etc).This usually depends on the placement company – Most of our partner companies don’t require any Chinese language skills though.
As you will be living in Taipei for a while, we do encourage you to do some self learning of the basics though to help you settle in.

There is no set application deadline, however, places are limited and will be arranged on a first-come, first-served basis

For the Taipei programme you will be issued a working holiday visa. Pagoda Projects will guide you through the visa application process and help you register in Taipei. The cost of the visa application fee will be refunded upon programme completion.

Please note that the application fee refund does not include any other other costs associated with the visa application. Certain nationalities may be required to pay for health checks, criminal records/background checks, notorization costs, additional costs for expedited services or travel or postage required in order to successfully obtain a Taiwan Visa.
