Transport
Whilst Pagoda’s mission is to educate and advocate for sustainable practices such as slow trave; in advocating for slow travel, we must also be aware of the barriers, in this case, travel from Glasgow to Madrid represents a significant number of geographical boundaries which make slow travel problematic. Traveling by rail or coach requires several changes and amounts to 24 hours of travel, additionally, this form of travel does not represent a significant cost saving. Below is a breakdown of emissions created by each mode of transportation:
  • Flight: 1,711 km (flight): 0.16 tonnes of CO2e
  • Train: 1719 km (train): 0.07 tonnes of CO2e
  • Coach: 2371 km (coach): 0.57 tonnes of CO2e
Finally, as a Carbon-Conscious trip, the emissions from the Experience are offset by 150%, with Pagoda Projects purchasing carbon credits from CNaught thus heavily investing in a science-backed sustainable innovation portfolio
