Programme Details

Eligibility

The university funding is open to all Undergraduate Students, with the following exceptions

  • Students enrolled on a Preliminary Year (year 0)
  • International students undertaking a programme in their home country
  • Students who have previously received, or will receive, funding for another GO programme (i.e.  a year abroad). Students can usually only receive GO funding once. 

Widening Participation Criteria is outlined below:

  • Students in receipt of the Cardiff Bursary
  • Students receiving Universal Credit
  • Care Leavers / Care Experienced Students
  • Students who have caring responsibilities
  • Estranged Students
  • Refugees and asylum seekers
Funding

The majority of the programme fee is fully-funded Cardiff GO Bursary. Students who meet the widening participation criteria will also receive and additional £350 as part of the GO Bursary to contribute towards additional costs.

The programme fee covers accommodation and all activities on the programme. Please note that flights, visa fees (if required) and daily spending money (food and drink) are not covered by our programme fees.

Please note that all participants will also be required to pay a £200 refundable deposit to confirm their place one the programme. Deposits are refunded at the successful end of the programme, minus any cleaning fees or additional charges

In some cases universities has confirmed a specific amount of funding to cover part or all of these fees. 

Otherwise, you may be able to apply through your university for other potential funding mechanisms (e.g. Turing Funding, Travel Grants, NCP Funding) that help cover some of the cost of Pagoda’s Programme Fee as well as potentially your flights and insurance.

You will also be charged a refundable deposit which is refunded upon completion of the programme.

Application Process
  1. Register Interest: Fill in the form at the bottom of this page. Once submitted, our friendly team will be in touch to  answer any questions you may have.
  2. Application Form: Once you understand the programme details, complete the full application form.
  3. University Application: You are also required to apply to your university so that they can confirm your eligibility for the programme
  4. Agreement & Onboarding: If awarded a place we will ask you to confirm programme dates and location. If you’re happy to proceed, just sign our agreement and pay the refundable deposit to secure your place. Following this, our team will be in touch for onboarding and will support you through the necessary pre-departure steps.

Pre-Departure

Pagoda will host a virtual pre-departure event where participants will have the chance to have their questions answered. A recording of the event will be provided to those unable to attend.

Orientation & Support

A Pagoda team member will greet you at the airport and accompany you to your accommodation. You’ll be provided with a welcome pack and detailed orientation to help you feel settled in your new country. Throughout the programme you will check-in weekly with the Pagoda team, who will also provide 24/7 emergency on-site assistance if required.

Group Project

In groups of 2-6, you’ll work collaboratively on an enquiry-based learning project where you will be expected to put your learning and knowledge from the week’s activities into practice. You’ll be given a hypothetical business scenario which you will be asked to research and tackle. At the end of your programme, you will present your solutions and recommendations to your peers and other professionals.

Employability & Cultural Activities

You’ll be provided a 2-week itinerary of activities which are aimed at improving your cultural understanding, building your professional and personal network, and developing your practical business skills. 

Activities could include:

  • Panel discussion with business professionals at various stages in their career
  • Company visits and tours
  • Speed networking with local students 
  • Seminar with a business chamber or consulate
  • Thai language class
Accommodation

Our expert in-country teams will source and manage your accommodation, in line with our accommodation quality policy. You will be in a hotel sharing a twin-bedroom with one other participant (same sex). The hotel will be located within good transport links and in a secure area of the cities where Pagoda delivers programmes, inclusive of cleaning and wifi.

Portal

The Portal is a digital hub for our student community where you will be able to locate key programme information, forms and documentation.

You’ll also be able to access a variety of different employability resources which will set you on your way as you head into your career.

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand, and often ranked among the world’s most visited cities. With rich buddhist tradition meeting lively nightlife, the city is home to all kinds of experiences as impressive as its internationally loved cuisine. And if you find yourself wanting a change of pace, there’s a myriad of adventures possible outside of the city, whether its waterfalls, diverse landscapes or elephant sanctuaries that take your fancy.
