Chinese Zodiac – animal of the year calculated by the lunar calendar

The Chinese Zodiac consists of 12 animals, every year a different animal will represent that year. It is based on a 12 year cycle therefore a person will only meet their birth sign once every 12 years.
Each animal sign is usually regarded to earthly events, so the animal were given the following names: zi rat, chou ox, yin tiger, mao rabbit, chen dragon, si snake, wu horse, wei sheep,  shen monkey, you rooster, xu dog and hai pig.

The animal belonging to each year is calculated according to the Chinese lunar calendar. The order and selection of the animals originated in the so called Han Dynasty and the characteristics of each animal are based upon each animal’s character and living habits.

zi rat – The Rat is the first sign of the Chinese Zodiac and it enjoys great respect. George Washington is a celebrity who was born in the Year of the Rat.

chou ox – The Ox, people born in this year are most likely to be honest, industrious, patient and cautious. They like to do things steadily, but they are also stubborn and poor at communication.

yin tiger – The Tiger is the third sign of the Chinese Zodiac and its priority lies in energy and dynamics.

mao rabbit – The Rabbit is known for their sweetness and sensitivity. The people belonging to the rabbit sign, often give more to a partner than is realistic or healthy. They also love to entertain at home.

chen dragon – The Dragon as a creature of myth and legend, is a symbol of intense power. Dragons are always able to discover new ways and you can always trust the persons born under this sign.

si snake – The Snake, people born under this sign are very temperamentally and communicative. Martin Luther King was born under this sign.

wu horse – The Horse is the seventh sign of the Chinese Zodiac. It’s the sign of the coming year. Chinese people like to improve themselves, that’s why it’s recognized to be a fundamental characteristic of them.

wei sheep – The Goat is the eighth sign of the Chinese Zodiac. People born under this sign are elegant, artistic and good natured. Family is very important to them. They are often perceived to be stronger than they really are. Michelangelo and Nicole Kidman were born under this sign.

shen monkey – The Monkey is the ninth sign of the Chinese Zodiac. The monkey is known to be a clever animal and is usually described to be lively and flexible.

you rooster – The Rooster is the tenth sign of the Chinese Zodiac. Those born under the sign of the Rooster are said to be loyal, trustworthy individuals who are blunt when it comes to offering their opinions.

xu dog – The Dog is the eleventh sign of the Chinese Zodiac. Dogs are warm-hearted, smart and know how to keep secrets. But it has been said that most women could sometimes be distant at parties. So – Keep care! One of the celebrities Born in the Year of the Dog is Michael Jackson.

hai pig – The Pig,  you would often find that people born under this sign like to put their entire energy into projects without even thinking of giving up or turning back.
