4-Week Thailand Industry Experience

Solve real business challenges in Bangkok

Over four weeks, you’ll take part in Carbon Literacy training, sustainability activities and group projects to enhance your understanding of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and develop your cultural and professional understanding.

  • Group Projects  Work under the guidance of company mentors to complete an industry project for a local business. Present your ideas and recommendations.
  • Group Activities – Take part in Carbon Literacy training, cultural and industry visits, networking opportunities, employability workshops, Thai language classes and more.

Phase 1 - Project Brief & Preparation

One week of cultural and professional preparation
  • Complete 12 hours of Carbon Literacy training, accredited by the Carbon Literacy project.
  • Get equipped with the skills needed to understand the local culture, business environment and sustainability in practice.
  • Develop your understanding of Thai business etiquette through group orientations and local field trips.
  • Icebreakers and team-building activities to establish a positive and productive group environment.
  • Kick-off event to meet your project mentors and supervisors.
  • Assigning of team member roles and responsibilities.
  • Unpack the project brief, share knowledge & gather information.
  • Draft a week-by-week project plan, including objectives and deliverables to reach the final goal.

Phase 2 - Project Work

Two weeks of supervised project work.
  • Work collaboratively with your group to complete research that will support your final analysis and recommendations.
  • Weekly checkpoints with your project supervisor to gather feedback and guidance in any areas required.
  • Complete your Carbon Literacy Certification by writing your pledge for review.
  • Gain employability skills on Pagoda's online skills courses and apply new knowledge to tasks and project work.
  • Develop your professional and cultural understanding through employability workshops and professional activities.
  • Grow your international network by connecting with local businesses and professionals.

Phase 3 - Project Deliverables

One week of project deliverables.
  • Finalise your research, recommendations and project playbook.
  • Present your findings to a panel of your peers, company and other industry professionals. Get feedback from your mentor.
  • Reflect on what you've learnt, identifying areas of development, and how you can articulate this within your CV, future job applications and interviews.
  • Celebrate your success and let your hair down during a final awards dinner and celebration.

Bangkok - Thailand

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand, and often ranked among the world’s most visited cities. With rich buddhist tradition meeting lively nightlife, the city is home to all kinds of experiences as impressive as its internationally loved cuisine. And if you find yourself wanting a change of pace, there’s a myriad of adventures possible outside of the city, whether its waterfalls, diverse landscapes or elephant sanctuaries that take your fancy.

Furnished Apartment Accommodation

Our expert in-country teams will source and manage your accommodation, in line with our accommodation quality policy. Our furnished apartments are all located on good transport links and in a secure area of the cities where Pagoda delivers programmes.

You will always be provided your own private bedroom.

Funding & Academic Credit

Your university and Pagoda will work with you to clarify any funding you may be eligible for, along with any outstanding costs you are responsible for paying. Please get in touch to find out whether there is any established funding with your university or institution.

This global industry project will:

  • Improve your intercultural awareness, cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills.

  • Enhance your employability and career readiness in eight key areas:
Students completing the global industry project will be able to:  
  • Apply knowledge and skills to a workplace environment.
  • Identify and help solve real problems for an international business.
  • Address a genuine challenge set by an international organisation to a satisfactory standard.
  • Demonstrate skills sought by employers including communication teamwork, cultural IQ, time and self-management, presentational skills and self-awareness.
  • Work in a range of academic and professional environments.
  • Critically reflect and report on their professional experience.
  • Show knowledge and understanding of sustainable business practices in the host location.

Application Process

We will request a refundable deposit of $200 AUD/NZD if you’re offered a place on the programme. Only once the deposit has been paid will your place be secured.

2. APPLICATION FORM & AGREEMENT

Once you understand the programme details, complete the full application form and we will assess your application with your university. If awarded a place and you’re happy to proceed, just sign our agreement and pay the refundable deposit to secure your place. 

3. ONBOARDING

Successful candidates will be informed of the next steps for programme onboarding following the application deadline, and supported through the necessary pre-departure steps.
