Organisation Description:

This NGO is a worldwide network of patient groups with a full or partial focus on supporting patients with lymphoma; it was formed in 2002 and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 2010. The need for a central hub of consistent and reliable current information and the need for lymphoma patient organizations to share resources, best practices, and policies and procedures was recognized. With this in mind, four lymphoma organizations started this NGO. Today, there are over 90 member organizations from over 57 countries. This NGO’s current strategy is focused on ensuring impact within two pillars: information and advocacy.

Insurance & Legislative Intern

Internship Description:

The host company seeks an individual to join their Membership and Alliances team for an internship placement to work on a project that explores insurance coverage and legislative action associated with the Right to be Forgotten (RTBF) in parts of Europe. With a focus on mapping the implementation status and challenges, as well as financial services, insurance coverage, and broader health policy practices, the project will produce a comprehensive horizon scan that outlines the current strategies, resources, and available support(s) to help improve understanding of the landscape.

The critical activities associated with this project include the following:

  • Conduct a horizon scan (map) of those countries where the Right to be Forgotten has been adopted and define the relevant policies, best practices, and legislative action.
  • Research and outline relevant issues related to financial loans, insurance coverage, access to credit and mortgage loans and employment-related factors.
  • Research, identify, and spotlight the current legal aspects concerning the Right to be Forgotten for European cancer survivors.
  • Define the insurance industry’s position, identify strategies, resources, and available support, and capture critical findings in a report and presentation format.

Internship Requirements:

To be considered for this remote internship with the host company, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • Be registered in a post-graduate or graduate program, preferably with a focus on one of the following areas: public health, health policy, or law.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Intermediate knowledge of policy (definitions, practices, and frameworks) and proficiency in researching legislation, policy regulations, and insurance and financial practices.
  • Ability to comprehend and succinctly summarise evidence-based data and information.
  • An aptitude for working autonomously and remotely to complete tasks.
  • Previous skills and an interest in project management.
  • An interest in patient advocacy and the non-governmental sector at the global level.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
