LEARN ABOUT ANOTHER CULTURE AND SHARE YOURS WITH ANOTHER STUDENT
Pagoda Projects are looking for people who are interested in cultural exchange, this means people who want to learn more about other countries & cultures whilst sharing information about their own. If this sounds like you, you can become a āCultural Mentorā to one of our foreign students. Our foreign students will be completing a ‘Remote Internship’ with us, working for a company without leaving their own country.
There is no cost to take part in this programme as a cultural mentor.
We feel we have so much to learn from each other and that it is only by sharing our thoughts and feelings that we can better understand one another and provide a true international experience.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
GET CONNECTED, GET MATCHED, GET GOING!
MATCHED WITH FOREIGN STUDENT
After we receive your details, we will match you with a foreign student who is doing a remote internship placement with a company in your city. We will let you know their details and if youāre happy, this person will become your Cultural Exchange Partner!
Once you agree on a communication platform (i.e. WeChat, WhatsApp, Skype) then youāre ready to go!
ONGOING COMMUNICATION
Pagoda Projects will provide a weekly theme to discuss with your Foreign Exchange Partner. It will be the responsibility of your Foreign Exchange Partner to write about what they are learning from your interactions, so donāt worry about any extra work.
We only ask that you make time to have a voice or video discussion at least once per week. Feel free to ask questions yourself or chat as much as you would both like!
LEARNING POINTS
You are invited to join other Cultural Mentors and Foreign Exchange Partners for ongoing workshops and seminars relating to culture and international business. We will also arrange fun games and quizzes and other activities!
After the placement, you are welcome to stay in touch and you will receive a certificate from Pagoda Projects to thank you for your support which you can add to your CV.
INTERCULTURAL FLUENCY
As a cultural mentor, we will also provide you with free access to our Intercultural Fluency online course!
This course is designed to provide an understanding of the importance of adaptability when dealing with intercultural communication in both the workplace and society. There is a focus on the foundations of intercultural understanding and developing the individualās cultural fluency through examining various culture case studies including Greater China, Mexico and Vietnam.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
What are you expected to do?
– Check forĀ WEEKLY TOPIC on the Pagoda Projects App (every Friday) or Wechat group (every Monday)
–Ā SET UP meeting,Ā PREPARE andĀ PROVIDE mentee the information according to weekly topic
– CompleteĀ FEEDBACK FORM (link sent via email) after programme finishes and your certificate will be processed accordingly.
– Be confident and have fun!
