Carbon Literacy Action Day (14th November) is a day to:
Take collective action against climate change,
Recognise our shared commitment to the planet and its people,
And celebrate our shared achievements in becoming Carbon Literate.
To celebrate, we’re launching the SGE Impact Awards
The SGE Impact Awards are a celebration of the progress you make towards your Carbon Literacy pledges. No matter where you are in your pledge journey, all progress is worth celebrating, because sometimes it’s the smallest actions that can have the biggest impact.

Award Categories
The awards will celebrate achievements in three key categories:
- Eco-Innovator Award - Celebrating your uniqueness and creativity in tackling your Carbon Literacy Project pledge.
- Green Advocate Award - Celebrating the positive impact you've made on others and in your local community.
- Climate Action Leader Award - Celebrating your commitment to tackling the UN Sustainable Development Goals on a grassroots level.
How it works
Step 1: Check your eligibility
Q1 – Have you completed a Pagoda Projects Sustainable Global Experience programme?
Q2 – Did you receive a certificate from The Carbon Literacy Project?
If yes to both – you’re eligible.
Step 2: Find your pledge
During your Carbon Literacy training, you made two pledges to The Carbon Literacy Project: one ‘individual’ and one ‘community’ action.
You must enter your community pledge for the SGE Awards.
Step 3: Enter the awards
Entering the awards is quick and easy. Simply fill out the SGE Awards Application Form (below) to let us know you’re taking part.
Step 4: Record your progress
For two months, record your progress towards achieving your pledge. This can be big or small, in any format you like. Examples include; a digital scrapbook, video content, blog posts, written content or a photographic journal. Read the SGE Impact Awards Entry Guidance for more information.
If you completed your Carbon Literacy training in 2023 or earlier, create a short summary of your pledge progress so far.
Step 5: Submit your entry
Email your SGE Awards entry to programmes@pagodaprojects.com by 8th December. This can be in any format you like, evidencing the progress you’ve made towards your pledges and its estimated impact. And that’s it!
Winners will be announced in January 2025 via a live-stream award ceremony and shared on social media.
