Company Introduction:

This organization is a non-profit NGO which was founded in June 2003. They are committed to supporting the natural, recreational and cultural values of rivers, in particular the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. They provide a unified voice on environmental values and issues. These issues include river conservation, environmental protection, development of environmental awareness, and the promotion of sustainable development in both urban and rural areas.

The working culture is very much influenced by relationship building and by grassroot-NGO working techniques. As an intern you will be integrated into the team quickly.

Business Development Intern

Internship Description:

  • Collect project stories and promote for publicity
  • Maintain the organisationā€™s social media presence, primarily on Facebook
  • Develop web presence for increased publicity, through websites such as LinkedIn and Wikipedia
  • Engage the organisations foreign experts in fundraising initiatives
  • Grow database for international funders
  • Maintain excel database for international funding opportunities
  • Assist in grant-writing efforts
  • Carry out international comparative analysis on a range of issues: public participation in environmental impact assessments, cross-regional watershed management, low-carbon rural methods and techniques etc
  • Support the organisationā€™s researchers with foreign case studies
  • Arrange research outcomes for web publication/ the organisationā€™s database

Ā Requirements:

  • Intermediate Chinese knowledge
  • English speaker
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is able to follow through on work assignments
  • Has a keen interest in the development of Chinese social organizations, and Chinaā€™s environmental problems
  • Familiarity with web operations
  • Basic understanding of the non-profit sector; ability to carry out research on funders
  • Strong English writing skills
  • Ability to find and organize academic materials from diverse sources
