Company Description:
This organisation is a non-for-profit organisation that promotes bilateral trade and investment between Mexico and the United Kingdom through a series of events, seminars, and synergies, in addition to commercial services. We have over 480 members from various sectors such as: energy, green power, legal, security, infrastructure, education, finance, amongst others.
The organisation’s Commercial Section is responsible for delivering commercial services to British companies looking to do business in Mexico. This includes: market research covering market snapshots relevant to the company to identifying potential clients and distributors; translation & promotional support; sharing supplier lists; guidance on logistics; etc. Some of these services have a cost to clients while other services are does as a courtesy to support trade between Mexico and the UK. Most commercial clients are British businesses looking to do business in Mexico, however we look to support Mexican companies looking to do business in the UK also.
Internship Position:
Commercial Section Internship with a British-Mexican Trade Organisation
Internship Description:
The successful candidate will be expected (but not limited) to:
- Communicate with British companies and individuals to guide them on doing business in Mexico
- Research and produce market research on any given sector in Mexico, according to the client’s need
- Network with companies and individuals in Mexico to extend the Chamber’s reach
- Contact potential clients and distributors in Mexico on behalf of British companies
- Support Office Manager with administrative tasks as and when required
- Provide logistical support during company visits
- Maintain Commercial Section database
- All employees in BritChaM, as part of their job, must contribute towards achieving BritChaM’s mission of strengthening trade between the UK and Mexico
- Translate company trade materials into Spanish when required
- Produce articles and blogs promoting the UK to Mexico and vice versa
Internship Requirements:
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
- Studying or about to finish an undergraduate degree
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as organisational skills
- Excellent standard of IT skills
- Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word and the ability to use these systems to produce reports and mail-shot communications
- Exceptional networking skills
- Strong numerical skills required for research
Language requirements:
- Native speaker of English or Spanish
- Level of second language required: high, Band 6 in IELTS or its equivalent
Desirable:
- Experience in events planning
- Knowledge of key sectors in Mexico for British businesses: Energy, Manufacturing, Finance, Education, Retail and Healthcare
- Good research and report writing skills
