Our innovative Online internship programme brings your students to a diverse global network of host organisations.

Our team go to great lengths to source meaningful internship opportunities for our participants, with extensive vetting of each company. Our internships should be enjoyable, of high quality and align with the students’ academic and career goals.

With over 300 online internship opportunities and counting, Pagoda is proud to be partnered with hundreds of companies from Europe, Asia, North America, and Australasia.

Along with a personalised internship experience, Pagoda have also built up a diverse range of research projects that allow students to work in groups from different institutions and time zones on a more flexible programme.

This option is ideal for academic staff looking to embed practical  real-world experience to their course, with more flexibility than a full-time internship.

Research Project Programme Overview

Pagoda’s unique Cultural Mentor initiative pairs students from all corners of the globe in a structured weekly discussion. This component brings local context to students’ programme, builds a real friendship and a greater degree of cultural immersion.

We pair students based on their academic background and personal interests, providing topics of discussion over the duration of their programme.

Drawing on our global corporate network and alumni group, each week Pagoda hosts engaging live events on a wide variety of topics.

Our events put various sectors or current issues through the lens of intercultural fluency and graduate employability.

We organise regular online networking sessions, bringing Pagoda alumni together with current participants.

Drawing on the experience of our team and input from industry experts, we created a range of online courses which help students to:

  • Articulate the skills they develop to future employers.
  • Apply theory to their practical learning during our programme.
  • Demonstrate their skills development in the form of a completion certificate and online badge.

Each course is flexible enough to plan around each student’s busy schedule. Courses can be completed at their own pace and in their own time.

In line with Pagoda’s our core value of inclusivity, we want to help improve the intercultural fluency, digital competency and employability of every student and recent graduate. So, we decided to make our courses available as a standalone component to any student on a pay-what-you-can basis.

Pagoda have developed a bespoke community-based app which is available in the App Store and Play Store.

Participants will be instructed to download the app and given on-boarding instructions to get started. The app’s functionality is built for communities and allows large user bases to engage, share and communicate with each other whilst maintaining a high level of privacy.

All communication of a Pagoda programme is delivered through the app, allowing students to easily navigate to the different components of their programme and can contact a member of the Pagoda team through the platform.

Cultural exchange and language learning are part of our core values, so Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese classes are available to students as a flexible addition to their programme.

Classes are delivered by our trusted in-country partner language schools that have adapted their classes to the online environment.

By taking part in a digital programme with Pagoda, each student is assigned a member of the Pagoda team who is their main contact throughout the experience.

All participants are requested to rate their programme weekly using the Pagoda app, which enables the Pagoda staff member to acknowledge their virtual check-in and pass on this immediate feedback to our university partners. If there is any aspect of the programme the student isn’t enjoying or accessing, the member of the Pagoda team will always aim to have these resolved before the next weekly check-in is submitted.

Students are reminded throughout their programme that they can contact Pagoda at any time using a variety of messaging platforms, a live chat function through the website and book a call at a convenient time with one of the Pagoda team.

Pagoda offers close to 1,000 in-person internship opportunities in Greater China, Vietnam, Mexico and Manchester.

In early 2017 Pagoda launched the Taipei programme, which ensured those students searching for a quality overseas opportunity that can be accredited to their course and that is financially viable could now complete this through Pagoda.

All placement opportunities are paid to Taiwanese minimum wage. With over 100 roles available , this format is extremely popular for the students completing their accredited placement year overseas.

Our application process is competitive, but our specialist team in Taipei provides coaching throughout and guidance on application documents where needed. Once a placement offer has been made, the student can relay the position and offer with their academic supervisor to ensure the role meets any academic requirements before committing to the programme.

We have a track record of organising intensive short programmes and study tours in China, Vietnam and Mexico. Previous programmes include a 2-week cultural immersion programme for the British Council in Chengdu and a 10-day insight into Vietnamese business culture for De Montfort University in Saigon.

This innovative programme gives students from all backgrounds an in-person global experience whilst making a positive impact on the environment. Participants will develop skills to use in their graduate career, grow their global mindset and become carbon literate.

The programme consists of 2 phases with digital components running throughout:

Phase 1 – Field Trip
5-night field trip to Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam, giving participants hand-on industry experience in a global context.
Careful planning to minimize the carbon impact of the trip.
Any carbon generated will be offset >100% through local gold standard offsetting projects.
Sustainability themes weaved throughout each component of the trip.

Phase 2 – Online internship (Optional)

  • 8 week internship
  • Students individually matched with an internship in their sector of interest
  • Over 400 internship positions, across a wide range of sectors available
  • Exposure to relevant digital platforms and remote working practice
  • Multiple global destinations to choose from

We are delighted to be working with the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), a non-profit that is officially recognised and registered at the Chinese Government’s Ministry of Civil Affairs (MOCA).

As this is a government-sponsored programme established to strengthen China’s international relations through exchange, it is a funded opportunity with no fees.

What’s Included:

  • 10 month paid placement teaching English in China with an approved state school (with the option to stay longer)
  • Salaries range from £900 to £1400 per month (Before Tax)
  • On-campus accommodation or allowance towards off-campus accommodation

This programme is open to graduates who are citizens from the UK/Australia/New Zealand/South Africa/USA/Canada/Ireland.

Our strong ties to the local communities in our destinations include long-term partnerships with local language schools. Our partner schools are comfortable welcoming different group sizes and ability levels. Students can book classes to fit their programme at their own cost or you can opt to fund classes as a fixed component of a programme.

Our friendly team in Manchester offer personalised support for every student prior to departure.

We offer visa application support and guidance on all practical considerations for participants. We also pride ourselves on sector-leading best practice in relation to supporting students’ mental and physical health needs.

The on-site team in each of Pagoda’s destinations sources and manages apartment accommodation for participants, in line with our accommodation quality policy.

Students will always be provided their own bedroom and any shared facilities will always be with Pagoda participants only. Female-only accommodation is available and provided at no additional cost.

Our local teams organise regular optional social, networking and travel activities for participants. This includes a weekly dinner and weekend trips to fit around participants’ internship schedules. Our local knowledge helps students discover hidden gems and visit sites on a student budget.
