KANGDING (Tibetan Grasslands) TRIP - 10th - 12th July 2020 <-- Click to expand

Tibetan culture, breathtaking scenery and off the beaten track travel make this a favourite trip for our Chengdu Team.

This trip involves traveling to the amazing city of Kangding, Tagong and the surrounding region. Kangding (Chinese and English) or Dardo (Tibetan), is a city and the location of the seat of Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in western Sichuan province of Southwest China.
Kangding has been a historical border between Tibet and China, from Kangding to the west lies Tibetan civilization whereas to the east you’ll find the Chinese cultural centres. Kangding has witnessed many conflicts between Tibetan Empire and Chinese dynasties. Kangding was for many centuries an important trading city where Chinese brick tea was carried by porters from Chengdu and other centres to trade for Tibetan wool. Once in Kangding we will explore a little before waking up the next day and heading further into the surrounding countryside full of beautiful grasslands, Tibetan culture, temples and some of the World’s most beautiful mountain ranges. This is as close as you can get to Tibet without a permit.
We will also visit Tagong and numerous spots of natural beauty along the way! Tagong is known for scenic grasslands and local Tibetan Buddhist culture. We will have private transport so if we see some natural places of beauty to stop we can feel free to.

Friday 10th July – Bus to Kangding, which takes about 8 hours, then settle into the comfortable and scenic hostel and enjoy a walk around the city. We will witness the famous circle dances and enjoy amazing local food!

Saturday 11th July – We will spend the day travelling between the scenic spots of the region and climbing to heights of up to 4500m+. The views and stops along the way are incredible and we will also have some time for relaxing in Tagong!

Sunday 12th July – After a good sleep, the group will have breakfast in the hostel before heading back to Chengdu early in the morning.

Cost of trip – 795 RMB, this includes the transportation to and from Kangding and entrance to all attractions, as well as both nights in the hostels.
