InternChina has developed a large network of partner universities over the years and every year one of our management team does a ‘tour’ of Germany and the UK to visit our partner universities and hold presentations for students who are thinking about doing an internship in China. InternChina’s founder Frank is originally from Germany and traditionally it was always Frank who toured around Germany visiting our partner universities and speaking to students every year since 2007. In 2012 Jenny, our current Chengdu Office Manager, took up the reins and did 2 tours of Germany and Austria. I was always the person who toured around my native UK and have now visited our major university partners at least 4 times in the last few years.
Now I’m back in the UK and having visited lots of our British university partners already this year, including the University of Wales when there was still snow on the ground…
After travelling the length and breadth of the UK it was time for me to take over the reins and travel around Deutschland in Frank and Jenny’s illustrious footsteps! My fiancee Helen joined me for the tour and we took our car across the English channel to drive around Germany in our trusty French car, armed with a map of Europe and a sat nav just in case…
The tour began in April and lasted 2 weeks in total. When we say ‘tour’, it’s probably exactly what you imagine, like a rock band on tour, in a big bus, very glamorous, wild parties, loads of beer… no, unfortunately it’s not! Well…apart from the beer :).
I met with lots of universities and had a combination of meetings to discuss our programs and presentations to students who are interested in doing their internship in China.
We saw some beautiful cities and met up with a few lovely former InternChina interns along the way. It’s always good to catch up with interns who we got to know out in China and reminisce about the good times in Qingdao and Zhuhai!
