Organisation Description:

This is a fast growing Fintech company helping modern asset-light SMEs, that traditional banks aren’t capable of serving, manage their cash-flow better, enabling them to pay their staff on time, every time and expand their business faster. They operate in Hong Kong + Singapore and are looking to expand regionally this year.

Role:

Credit Research Analyst

Internship Description:

Your job is to work with their finance team to research, innovate, and build up their credit assessment capabilities in Hong Kong and across Asia-Pacific.
You will primarily be conducting research into how to improve credit assessments for SMEs, although you will also have the opportunity to propose and conduct other research topics.

Possible Research Topics:

  • Alternative data points that affect default probability of SMEs in Hong Kong.
  • The impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance factors on the credit quality of SMEs.
  • The impact of climate change on SME defaults.
  • Forecasting defaults and non-performance of receivables.
  • The impact of different variables in default probability between asset-light businesses and traditional businesses.
  • They are open to all ideas you may have too!

N.B. tasks and projects may vary depending on current priorities. Specific projects and responsibilities will be discussed during an interview.

  • You’ll work closely with the founders who have many years of experience across finance, technology, and start-ups
  • They place a strong emphasis on learning– you’ll have opportunities to learn about finance, technology, and many other skill sets that exist in the company
  • You’ll have the opportunity to push the boundaries of quantitative finance
  • Your research will be put into practice immediately so you’ll be able to see how it positively impacts the SME economy

Internship Requirements:

  • Studying a STEM or Finance degree (bachelors)
