Pagoda Projects is excited to announce the launch of our Taiwan Scholarship programme, offering a variety of different opportunities for Cardiff University students seeking an international placement from the business school!

Pagoda Projects’ scholarship programme is an amazing opportunity which enables students and recent graduates the chance to complete an internship in one of four amazing cities, worth £1,995!

Pagoda Projects works with you, your individually selected host companies to ensure the internships fulfil academic requirements and workplace health and safety standards.

You will receive unrivalled pre-departure and on-place support from Pagoda Projects’ experienced team throughout your time with us, no matter what destination you choose!

The duration of these scholarships differ depending on the host company’s needs, but the successful applicants can complete a 6-12 month placement through this opportunity.

TAIWAN SCHOLARSHIPS

CARDIFF UNIVERSITY – BUSINESS SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

The Programme

This opportunity is open to all students currently studying at Cardiff University completing a course in the business school, who is looking for an overseas accredited placement.

Why does this scholarship exist?

Cardiff University has been a longstanding partner of Pagoda Projects and have been kind enough to offer funding for our short-term summer programmes in the last few years. We wanted to offer another option for the fantastic students at Cardiff to take advantage of!

Eligibility Criteria

  • To be studying at Cardiff University
  • Completing a course in the business school
  • In need of an accredited placement for your course
  • Achieved at least a 2:1 in your undergraduate or postgraduate course. If you’ve not completed your course yet, the grades you’ve already achieved must average at a minimum of 60%.
  • Hold a UK passport and not over the age of 30 years old (Due to Taiwan visa regulations).

Accommodation

Accommodation is not provided as part of our Taipei Programme, however our team in Taipei will support you in sourcing appropriate accommodation, the cost of which will be covered by the salary from your host company.

Programme Cost

The scholarship is worth £1,995, and includes a placement in a sector of your choice, visa processing, insurance, 24/7 on- site support and much more!

There will be some costs which are not included in the scholarship. These include your flights to and from Taipei, your daily expenses while on place, and your accommodation.

Conditions of Participation/ Requirements

  • To be able to begin your placement at some point in 2020.
  • You will need to commit to at least 6 months in Taipei, and can stay no longer than 12 months.
  • Be interested in Taipei and Taiwanese culture!

Placements can start from September 2020 onwards and finish any time of the year 2021, but you must start your role in 2020 and commit to at least 6 months in Taipei.

Any successful applicants will be required to provide a deposit of £200 to our UK account that will be paid back on completion of your agreed placement.

THE DESTINATION

TAIPEI – TAIWAN

Taipei is the capital city of Taiwan, located in the north of the island, only a short metro ride away from the beach. The city is home to around 3 million people and one of the tallest buildings in the world (Taipei 101). Free wifi throughout the city, one of the best transportation systems and amazing street food… no wonder Taiwan won the top country in the world with the best quality of life! (source).

Is there a programme fee?

Normally yes of £1,995, but we’re offering the scholarship to cover our programme fee! The scholarship includes comprehensive support from Pagoda Projects throughout your time in the destination, visa processing, travel & health insurance plus much more!

What's the application process?

  1. Complete the application form below.
  2. Pagoda Projects will review your application, request CV and invite you for a 30 minute telephone interview.
  3. Pagoda Projects will then review all applications and award the funding shortly after the application end dates to those who score highest on throughout the process.
  4. If selected, Pagoda Projects will require the applicant to provide the refundable programme deposit and start working on finalising the internship position.
  5. Pagoda Projects will provide the detailed visa instructions and those who are selected can book flights and look forward to an amazing experience!

When is the application deadline?

All applications must be submitted by 1st June 2020 to be considered.

Which sectors are available?

There’s a wide variety of companies, positions and sectors available. Many of our companies also do not require you to study a certain course to consider you for their position. You can look through a full listing of the positions here.

Do I need to speak the native language to participate?

All of our placements are English speaking, so other than some of the basics you’ll pick up along the way there’s absolutely no language requirement for this programme.

How many hours will I be on placement?

Our placements are full time, meaning you will work roughly 40-45 hours per week, Monday to Friday with no weekend work required.

Which visa will I have?

Included as part of the scholarship is a working holiday visa, meaning you’re legally entitled to the minimum wage in Taiwan.

The visa application is handled by Pagoda Projects and lasts up to 12 months.
